Help your lawn to thrive by getting the pH of the soil right. Lawn Lime is specially designed to turn acidic soils neutral by raising the pH by 0.5 on the pH scale – thereby reducing it’s acidity.

How to apply Lawn Lime

This product is a granular product of 2-3mm and can be applied either by hand or with a spreader.

It should be watered into the lawn because it contains soluble materials that absorb into the soil.

Follow the steps below to

  • If necessary, measure out sections of your lawn using wooden markers
  • Apply the correct amount based on the area of each section
  • Mow the lawn as usual (not too low and not too high)
  • Evenly sprinkle onto the lawn by hand or use a spreader
  • Apply during MOIST ground conditions (morning or evening)
  • Water into the soil for 3 days after application

When to apply Lawn Lime

Technically, lawn lime can be applied at any time of year. Though it’s best to avoid applying during a drought or during frosty conditions.

The benefits of applying in Autumn, Winter or early Spring means it gives the soil enough time to absorb the lime so that the pH will have adjusted accordingly by the following Spring.

The benefits of applying in Spring are that you can adjust the soil prior to overseeding.

Wait 4 weeks after applying lawn lime before fertilising the grass

How much Lawn Lime to Apply

Application rate: 30 grams per square metre. By applying 30g per m2, you’ll be able to raise the pH by approximately 0.5.

If you need to reduce the pH by less than 0.5, then use half this. However, if you need to raise the pH by more then 0.5, then it’s recommended to do it in multiple applications approximately 3 months apart.

Always check the pH of the soil about 2 months after application to make sure it has done what was expected.
